Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging: Basic principles
Author: Stuart W. Young
ISBN/ASIN: 089004998X
A great book for those seeking a basic understanding of how magnetic resonance (MR) imaging works. The concepts are outlined in simple terminology that most laymen can understand. Terms such as T1, T2, T2*, precession, back projection, and spin-echo are explained.
the one drawback is the book was written in 1984, so some of the terminology is out-dated, or the authors guessed wrong on what the naming conventions would end up being. For instance, instead of MR imagining, they use NMR imaging, or nuclear magnetic resonance. Another antiquated term is zeugmatography. Lastly, the authors predict one of the drawback of MR is that it will not be useful for imaging moving currents, or for what we now call perfusion imaging.
